How to Order Custom Polo Team Jerseys: A Complete Guide for Players and Teams
Share

If you've ever wanted a jersey set that actually represents your team — your colours, your logo, your identity — but weren't sure where to start, this guide is for you. Whether you're a club manager pulling together a set for your team or an individual player who wants something that's entirely yours, here's everything you need to know before placing your first custom polo jersey order.
You Don't Need a Vision to Get Started
This is the most common misconception we hear. Players assume they need to arrive with a fully formed design idea — a colour palette, a layout, reference images — before they can order. You don't.
All you need is a desire to have a carefully crafted set of jerseys. Logos, inspiration images, and design direction can all be exchanged during the process itself. That's what the design process is for.
If you do have inspiration photos, great — sharing them early significantly speeds things up. But their absence is never a barrier to getting started.

What Makes a Horse Polo Jersey Different from a Generic Sports Shirt
A polo jersey isn't just a shirt with a number on it. It's one of the most visible expressions of team and personal identity in the sport — and designing one well requires understanding the game from the inside.
At Kora Apparel, our designer is a polo player herself. That means every design decision is made with the sport in mind: optimal camera angles for action photography, number visibility for players with long hair, and compliance with polo governing body guidelines. The USPA, for example, requires that 75% of a jersey be the same colour — a rule that shapes design possibilities more than most players realise when they first start thinking about customisation.
A well-designed polo jersey works on horseback, under lights, on camera, and on the field. Generic sports apparel suppliers don't think about any of that. We do.
What Can Actually Be Customised
Everything. Kora Apparel does not work from templates. Every jersey is designed from scratch to your specifications.
Customisation options include:
- Fabric: Sublimated polyester in two weights — a quick-dry moisture-wicking option for hotter climates, and a premium-weight version for cooler or mild conditions. Both are fully sublimated, meaning graphics go edge to edge with no heat-press limitations.
- Collar styles: Quarter-zip stand collar (our default), polo collar with two buttons, crew neck, or V-neck.
- Graphics: Full front-to-back design capability — patterns, custom artwork, gradients, panel designs.
- Personalisation: Player numbers, player names, team logos, sponsor logos, custom illustrations.
- Colours: Unlimited. There are no colour restrictions on sublimated polyester beyond the USPA's 75% rule if that applies to your league.

How Many Jerseys Do You Actually Need?
Kora Apparel's standard set is 5 jerseys, and that number is deliberate.
In grassroots and low-goal polo — which is where most club players compete — it's common for a position to be split between two players. One person plays the first chukker at number 1, another takes over later. The fifth jersey in a set exists specifically to accommodate that split-position reality, while also giving the team flexibility for size variations within the group.
Beyond the base set, we strongly recommend ordering a complementary set of the same design in an alternate colourway — one light, one dark. Polo doesn't always guarantee that opposing teams will show up in contrasting colours, and having both options means you're never caught having to decide which team changes on the fly.
What to Expect from the Design Process
Timeline: Design begins within 48 hours of payment and typically takes up to 2 weeks. Production and delivery add another 2–3 weeks, putting the full timeline at 30 days or less from design confirmation to your door.
Here's what the process actually looks like:
- You place your order on the website or reach out via email, text, or Instagram DM.
- We reach out within two business days to kick off the design conversation — by video, phone, email, or text, whichever works for you.
- We ask about your vision — colours, logos, any brand guidelines, inspiration images if you have them.
- Design rounds begin. We typically go through 3 to 4 iterations before landing on something you love.
That last point is worth saying honestly: the first two design rounds can feel discouraging. The initial concepts are often rough — exploratory stabs at a direction rather than finished designs. This is normal and expected. In practice, those early iterations are often the most useful part of the process because they clarify what you don't want, which points directly toward what you do. By rounds three and four, most customers are genuinely excited about what's taking shape.
If you trust the process, the result is a jersey that feels like it was made for you — because it was.
Two Ways to Order
Option A — Start a conversation first. Text, email, or DM us on Instagram. A member of the Kora Apparel team will walk you through the process before any money changes hands. This works well if you have questions or want to talk through your design vision ahead of time.
Option B — Place an order on the website. We'll reach out within two business days to begin the design process. This is the faster path if you're ready to go.
One thing to know: we're happy to chat about your design ideas, colour preferences, and inspiration before you order. But actual design mockups don't begin until an order is placed. This keeps the process focused and ensures every design hour goes toward customers who are committed to bringing their jerseys to life.
Kora Apparel in the Field
We've had the privilege of working with some great teams and events:
- Designed jerseys for the Seahorse Ranch team at the Women of Wellington tournament — a design strong enough that it was passed to the sanctioned manufacturer for official production.
- Designed and produced jerseys for multiple teams in the Women's League at Eldorado Polo Club.
- Both finalists in the NYTS Tournament at Eldorado Polo Club wore Kora Apparel-designed and produced jerseys.
- Produced jerseys for the Vancouver Polo Club / Ryan Polo Team in early 2026.
- Contracted to design and produce all corporate sponsor jerseys for the 2026, 2027, and 2028 Canadian Women's Open Polo Championship.
A Few Things to Know Before You Order
- Plan ahead. The 30-day timeline is from design confirmation, not from the day you place your order. The design process itself takes up to 2 weeks. If you have a tournament date, work backwards from it.
- Returns aren't possible. Custom jerseys are made to order. Please use the size chart carefully before confirming your order.
- No vision required. We've said it once, we'll say it again — come to us with nothing but enthusiasm if that's where you are. We'll figure out the rest together.
